Construction, Day 9

It was a little difficult to determine what the fuck the WGs were up to today. They show up and stare at the house for a while, and then one of the gets on a ladder and starts doing something to the back of the house. A small pile of concrete debris starts to form under where the guy is working.

The truth is revealed in parts.

Exhibit A : Enormous Pile Of Bricks #1

Exhibit B : Enormous Pile Of Bricks #2

Exhibit C : Nothing much has changed on the ground, but...

Exhibit D : JESUS CHRIST WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HOUSE?

Exhibit E : View from beneath JCWHTMH? (That is Enormous Pile of Bricks #2 on the right, there)

See, what had happened is, the WGs were stripping the brick off (and by "stripping off" I mean beating the shit out of it with a hammer or a rock until it fell off) since the entire back wall is going to get disploded anyway as we weld the addition onto the existing frame. No idea why they needed to do this so soon seeing how as the footings haven't even been completed yet, but what do I know.

Construction, Day 8

WGs show up and dig parts of the channels a bit deeper. Then the concrete begins to flow freely! Well, freely as in, one guy lugs wheelbarrow-load after wheelbarrow-load of concrete into the site and pours. Lather, rinse, repeat until almost all of the outer shell is completed.

Construction, Day 7

I adjust the camera again. The inspector comes by and decides the ground where the enormous stump used to be is too soft and will need to be excavated a little more until firmer ground can be found. More digging required, but no WGs show up to do it. Pretty light show ensues, and not much else.

Construction, Day 6

Rain strikes over the weekend, but the tarp does its job! WGs start digging the basis for the foundation and building the frame, then re-cover, as more rain is predicted.

Construction, Day 5

Revenge of the Worker Guys (hereafter referred to as WGs) : they bring in the biggest stump grinder I've ever seen and demolish the Enormous Stump in short order. The bobcat cleans up after, then they cover the area with tarp due to incoming rain.

Construction, Day 4

Watch as the bobcat flails away at the enormous tree stump for a while then runs away. Nothing more after that.

Construction, Day 3

Now we're starting to get to it! The bobcat comes and digs the shit out of my yard. An enormous tree stump is uncovered. A guy takes a few measurements.

Construction, Day 2

I change the angle of the camera. The AC unit gets moved.

Construction, Day One

We've decided to immortalize the time-lapse movies of our construction project, which we're taking daily, on the ol' blog site, since nothing else has happened here in some time.

In case you're interested, I'm taking one snapshot a minute, and the video is 30 FPS. That means that in an hour, I get 60 snapshots, which translates to 2 seconds of video. I run the camera for 10 hours a day, so each day will be compressed into a 20 second video.

Enjoy!

This was the first day I figured out how to get the time-lapse thing working. It didn't happen until later in the afternoon so there isn't much to see except a few guys moving a few boards out of the way.
